Dungeons and Camps
17 generators — 11 interiors and 6 surface camps. Valheim assembles each one at world-gen time, so "how big is a crypt" has a real answer.

Assembled room by room from a themed pool, so no two runs share a layout.

How Valheim builds a dungeon
World generation picks a location, then hands the dungeon generator a seed. Interiors start from an entrance and attach rooms from a themed pool until they hit the room count or run out of connectors; camps scatter pieces within a radius instead. Across all 17 generators the pools hold 461 rooms, which is where the variety between two crypts in the same world comes from.
Room contents are not readable from the game files: rooms are referenced by asset GUID from scene bundles the asset manifest does not index, so the chests and spawners inside a given room cannot be listed here.
Valheim has 17 dungeon and camp generators — 11 interiors and 6 surface camps — spread across 8 biomes, drawing on 461 rooms between them. Each is assembled fresh per world from a seed, which is why a Sunken Crypt in one world shares nothing but its theme with the one in another. The numbers here are what the generator itself is configured with, rather than an estimate from walking a few of them.

Valheim dungeons FAQ
How big is a Valheim dungeon?
It depends on the generator. Most interiors place between 20 and 40 rooms per run; a few are configured to keep going until they run out of space instead of stopping at a count. All 11 interiors and their sizes are in the table above.
Are Valheim dungeons the same in every world?
No. Each is built from a seed at world-generation time, drawing rooms from a themed pool, so the theme and the room count carry over between worlds but the layout does not.
How many dungeons are in a Valheim world?
The game attempts a fixed number of placements per generator and drops the ones that find no valid spot, so the real count is at or below the figures in the "Per world" column. Across 17 generators that is several hundred attempted locations.
How many rooms does a Valheim dungeon have?
The 17 dungeon types draw from 461 distinct rooms between them. A given run uses a subset, assembled at generation time, which is why two Burial Chambers feel related without being identical — the pieces are shared, the arrangement is not.
What types of dungeon are there in Valheim?
11 are true interiors you go inside, and 6 are surface camps and structures, spread across 8 biomes. The distinction matters for how you approach them: an interior is a fixed space that can be cleared and looted, a camp is an open fight you can leave and come back to.
