Locations

Every point of interest a Valheim world generates — 95 of them, from 201 placement rules across 9 biomes. Worlds are seed-generated, so nothing sits at a fixed coordinate; what is fixed is the ring each one must land inside, and 11 of them have one. Bog Witch Camp is the strictest: never closer than 3,000 metres to the centre of the world.

The count is placement ATTEMPTS per world, not a guarantee: the generator gives up on a spot that fails the biome, altitude or spacing test, so a cramped world ends up with fewer.

A Valheim world is generated from its seed, so no location has a fixed coordinate and any map you find online is one person's world rather than yours. The placement rules ARE fixed, though, and they narrow a search more than a map of somebody else's seed: 11 of the 95 locations here can only generate inside a band of distance from the centre of the world, every one of them is tied to a biome, and the number of attempts tells you whether to expect one or a hundred.

Valheim locations FAQ

Is there a Valheim map with all locations marked?

Not one that would work for you. Worlds are generated from their seed, so a marked map only describes the world it was made in. What carries across every seed is the rule: the biome, the distance band from the centre of the world and how many attempts the generator makes — all of which are listed above.

How far from spawn is the trader in Valheim?

At least 1,500 metres from the centre of the world, never closer, with ten placement attempts per world. That is why walking circles around your first base never turns him up — the rule forbids it.

How many of each location does a Valheim world have?

The count in the table is how many times the generator TRIES, not how many you get. A placement is thrown away if the biome, altitude, spacing or terrain test fails, so a world short on the right biome ends up with fewer than the number says.

Which Valheim locations need a boss killed first?

11 of the 95 are gated behind a world key, which is usually a boss kill. Until that key is set the location simply is not placed, so a world you have combed can still be hiding things — and the gate is why a second sweep after a boss is worth the sailing.

How many location variants does Valheim have?

201 placement rules across the 95 location types, spread over 9 biomes. A single named location can carry several rules with different biomes, distances and altitudes, which is why the same thing shows up in two places that feel nothing alike.
