Blocking
Damage absorbed when blocking with a weapon or shield. Blocking is a Valheim skill, capped at level 100, and you lose 5% of it every time you die. The table below gives what the skill is actually worth at levels 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 across 1 separate effects, none of which the game puts a number on anywhere in its own interface.

How much Blocking skill do you lose on death in Valheim?
5% of it, as with every skill. The cap is level 100.
What is the maximum Blocking level in Valheim?
100, and the last stretch is far longer than the first. The cost of each level is the level to the power of one and a half, halved, so the step into 100 costs about 501 where the step into level 2 costs about 2 — roughly 261 times as much for the same single level.
How do you level Blocking in Valheim?
By using it, and only by using it: there is no trainer and no way to spend points. Every qualifying action adds a fixed amount of progress, and when that total passes the requirement for the next level, the level ticks over and the bar resets to zero. The halfway mark already costs about 183 per level, so the useful lesson is to use the skill constantly rather than in bursts.
Does gear improve Blocking?
The gear carrying a modifier for it numbers 21, of which Nord Shield is the strongest. That is separate from the skill level itself — gear shifts the output, the skill shifts how well you wield it — so the two stack, and a high level on weak gear and a low level on strong gear are not the same thing.
