How to get Coup de Grâce

Game data

In-game condition: “Defeat the Orphan.”

Coup de Grâce unlocks when you defeat the Orphan, the eighth boss, in the University during Chapter IX In Ruins. The Sewage Drain Lantern is about 39 m away.

The Orphan has 4,000 Health and a 1,550-point Posture bar, and seven of its 16 attacks are unblockable, including a five-hit combo, a pipe swing that hits for 100 and a grab. Do not plan around fire: its base sheet lists −100% Ignite resistance, but both phases of the fight reset its Fire resistance to 0%, so fire only deals normal damage, and it resists 70% of Ignite build-up. Bring your best-upgraded weapon and aim for the head, which takes double damage. It is fully immune to Infection, and some of its attacks build Infection on you.

The kill pays 40,000 Catalysts. The Shield Transmutation, the last weapon you receive, is handed over in the same region at Main Hall.
