The Explorer is a Milestones achievement that Valheim tracks with running counters rather than a checklist of things to find. The 4 counters above are the whole condition, each with the number it has to reach — figures the game keeps hidden until the achievement is already done. These are the grind achievements: they ask for time rather than planning, but knowing the target is most of the work.

How to get The Explorer

How do you unlock The Explorer in Valheim?

Valheim counts this one instead of listing it, so the 4 counters above are the whole condition, each with the exact number it has to reach. The game never shows you those numbers in advance; there is nothing else to plan for.

Do you need a fresh world for The Explorer?

No. Counter-based achievements follow your character, not the world, so progress carries across every world that character visits.

Does world difficulty matter for The Explorer?

No. The Explorer is set to accept any difficulty, like almost every achievement in the game — only three carry a world-difficulty requirement. Whatever settings your world was created with, this one can still be earned.

How is progress towards The Explorer tracked?

Against your player profile rather than the world, through the conditions listed above, 4 of them. The game keeps running counters — things killed, items crafted, food eaten, pieces placed — and checks them whenever one changes, so progress carries between worlds and characters rather than resetting with a save.

What do you get for The Explorer?

Nothing, mechanically. There is no reward field on an achievement anywhere in the game: it holds an icon, its conditions, a difficulty requirement and a flag saying whether it has fired. No item, no power, no recipe. They are a record of what you have done, not a progression system.
