How to beat Abomination
Game dataCounterplay for Abomination, written from its move list, resistances, variants and drops.
Abominations are Experiment 83 in miniature, with the same four moves: the red Unfair Slam that hits for 120 (the hardest hit any regular enemy lands), a red grab (30), and the blockable Triple Swipe (50) and Rage (45), which cost 60 Endurance each to block.
They walk at 1.5 m/s but sprint at 4.7 m/s, faster than your 4 m/s walk. They take 20% extra fire damage and 1.5x damage to the head, resist half of Ignite build-up and 30% of Stasis, and their 500 posture breaks into a 500-damage critical attack at level 1, half their health (2,000 at level 6). They cannot be backstabbed.
They are worth the fight: 1,500 Catalysts at level 1 (3,500 at level 6), an 8% chance of a Nephtoglobin Vial and 2% of a Pure Transmutation Material.
How to fight Abomination
Game dataTips built from its data: what it resists, what it is weak to, which attacks to dodge and how to open it up.
- Watch for the red attacks: Unfair Slam, Melee Grab cannot be blocked, so dodge them instead of holding block.
- Lean on Fire damage: it takes extra damage from it.
- Avoid relying on Ignite build-up; it resists that damage type.
- Its head takes ×1.5 damage, so aim firearm shots at the head.
- It never blocks, so a full light-attack chain always lands.
- It cannot be backstabbed, so there is no stealth opener: break its posture or race its health instead.
- It has a grab, and grabs cannot be blocked: step back when it lunges.
- Its toughest variant, Boss*, starts at 3,400 HP, far more than the 1,000 of a level-1 placement.
Abomination variants
Game dataThe game defines 2 versions of this enemy. Each has its own health, posture and defensive behaviour; elites are tougher one-off placements, summoned ones appear mid-fight.
| Variant | Role | Health (lowest → highest level) | Catalysts | Posture | Stasis segments | Block chance | Parry chance | Backstab | Placed |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1* | Regular | 1,000 → 4,000 | 1,500 | 500 | 5 | No | — | No | 10 |
| Boss* | Regular | 3,400 | 20,000 | 1,000 | 5 | No | — | No | — |
* Variant names are built from the game's internal tier tags (the game shows no name for them). Block and parry chances are listed in the order the game stores them. Placed = how many level spawners use that variant.
Health of every variant by level
| Variant | Lv 1 | Lv 2 | Lv 3 | Lv 4 | Lv 5 | Lv 6 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1* | 1,000 | 1,400 | 1,800 | 2,400 | 3,200 | 4,000 |
Speed and posture by variant
Game dataHow fast each variant closes the distance, and how quickly its posture comes back once you stop pressuring it.
Its fastest variant moves at 4.7 m/s; your walk speed is 4 m/s.
| Variant | Role | Move speed | Sprint | Posture recovery | Recovery delay |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1* | Regular | 1.5 m/s | 4.7 m/s | — | 1 s |
| Boss* | Regular | 1.5 m/s | 4.7 m/s | — | 1 s |
Speeds are the AI's movement settings in metres per second. Posture recovery is the posture regained per second, and the delay is the wait before recovery begins (game fields posture_recovery_per_sec and posture_reset_delay). — = not set for that variant.
Abomination level scaling
Game dataEnemy levels in Valor Mortis are set per placement, not by a difficulty setting (the game has a single difficulty): the same enemy is level 1 in one spot and level 6 in another, usually higher later in the campaign. This is the main variant from level 1 to 6.
| Level | Health | Catalysts | Damage dealt | Critical attack damage taken | Backstab damage taken | Backstab share of HP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lv 1 | 1,000 | 1,500 | ×1 | 500 | 500 | 50% |
| Lv 2 | 1,400 | 1,900 | ×1.05 | 700 | 700 | 50% |
| Lv 3 | 1,800 | 2,300 | ×1.1 | 900 | 900 | 50% |
| Lv 4 | 2,400 | 2,700 | ×1.15 | 1,200 | 1,200 | 50% |
| Lv 5 | 3,200 | 3,100 | ×1.2 | 1,600 | 1,600 | 50% |
| Lv 6 | 4,000 | 3,500 | ×1.25 | 2,000 | 2,000 | 50% |
Damage dealt multiplies every attack's base damage. Critical attacks (after a posture break) and backstabs deal the fixed amounts shown, whatever your weapon; the share column is our arithmetic.
Abomination attacks
Game dataEvery damaging attack across its variants, grouped into moves, with base damage per hit, wind-up and whether you can block it.
| Move | Type | Hits | Damage per hit | Wind-up | Block / parry |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unfair Slam* | Melee | 1 | 120 | — | Unblockableparry window 0.2 s |
| Triple Swipe* | Melee | 1 | 50 | 0.4 s | Blockableparry window 0.2 s |
| Rage* | Melee | 1 | 45 | 0.4 s | Blockableparry window 0.2 s |
| Melee Grab* | Grab | 1 | 30 | — | Unblockableparry window 0.2 s |
* Attack names are built from the game's internal tags. Damage is the level-1 base; multiply by the placement's damage multiplier (up to ×1.25 at level 6), so Unfair Slam goes from 120 to about 150.
Abomination resistances and weak points
Game dataWeak to Fire damage (×1.2). Resists Ignite build-up (−50%).
Red = takes extra damage of that type; filled to the right = resists it (100% = immune).
Weak points
| Body part | Damage taken | Posture damage taken |
|---|---|---|
| Head | ×1.5 | ×1 |
| Chest | ×1 | ×1 |
| Groin | ×1 | ×1 |
| Hands | ×0.8 | ×1 |
| Legs | ×0.8 | ×1 |
Abomination drops
Game dataRandom drops on every kill, with the chance the game rolls for each.
| Item | Type | Chance | Amount | On average |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Consumable | 8% | 1 | 1 in 13 kills | |
| Upgrade material | 2% | 1 | 1 in 50 kills |
"On average" is 1 ÷ chance (calculated): the expected number of kills per drop, not a guarantee.

A horrifying amalgam of bodies, moving in a grotesque and uncoordinated manner, yet — despite its imperfections — an extremely dangerous opponent possessing enormous strength. The origin of this monstrum remains a mystery, but its very existence stands as a testament to human recklessness.
One cannot help but wonder why that beast wanders the sewers and whether it has anything to do with the discarded remains of failed experiments. Were the bodies deemed unusable and thrown aside? Did the plague then take over and animate what was left, stitching together flesh, bone, and lingering agony into a single monstrous entity?
Abomination is the #15 most common of the 15 enemy types, with 10 placements across 4 regions; you meet it first in Cursed Hollow and see it most in Cursed Hollow. Of its 4 attacks, 2 are unblockable (Unfair Slam, Melee Grab), and the hardest hitter is Unfair Slam at 120 base damage. Bring Fire damage: it takes extra damage from it. None of its placements carry a scripted Amber or key. Its health runs from 1,000 at level 1 to 4,000 at level 6, paying 1,500 Catalysts to 3,500 Catalysts.
