How to beat Spewer
Game dataCounterplay for Spewer, written from its move list, resistances, variants and drops.
Spewers move at 1 m/s, the slowest enemy in the game, have only 50 HP at level 1 (150 for the big variant) and no posture bar, and the game data lists no damaging melee attack for them, so close in and kill them quickly: a level-1 Spewer dies to 2 Pistol shots, a level-6 one (200 HP) to 7.
Pick the damage type by variant: Fire Spewers resist 90% of fire but take 50% extra Stasis, Infected Spewers resist 95% of Infection, and the plain ones have no resistances at all.
They cannot be backstabbed and drop a Nephtoglobin Vial 3% of the time. There are 59 spawners in 9 regions, most of them in City of Orphans (11) and the Caverns (10).
How to fight Spewer
Game dataTips built from its data: what it resists, what it is weak to, which attacks to dodge and how to open it up.
- It never blocks, so a full light-attack chain always lands.
- It cannot be backstabbed, so there is no stealth opener: break its posture or race its health instead.
- Its toughest variant, Big*, starts at 150 HP, far more than the 50 of a level-1 placement.
Spewer variants
Game dataThe game defines 8 versions of this enemy. Each has its own health, posture and defensive behaviour; elites are tougher one-off placements, summoned ones appear mid-fight.

Speed and posture by variant
Game dataHow fast each variant closes the distance, and how quickly its posture comes back once you stop pressuring it.
Its fastest variant moves at 1 m/s; your walk speed is 4 m/s.
| Variant | Role | Move speed | Sprint | Posture recovery | Recovery delay |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small* | Regular | 1 m/s | — | — | — |

| Small Boss Variant* | Summoned | 1 m/s | — | — | — |
| Fire Small Boss Variant* | Summoned | 1 m/s | — | — | — |
Speeds are the AI's movement settings in metres per second. Posture recovery is the posture regained per second, and the delay is the wait before recovery begins (game fields posture_recovery_per_sec and posture_reset_delay). — = not set for that variant.
Spewer level scaling
Game dataEnemy levels in Valor Mortis are set per placement, not by a difficulty setting (the game has a single difficulty): the same enemy is level 1 in one spot and level 6 in another, usually higher later in the campaign. This is the main variant from level 1 to 6.
| Level | Health | Catalysts | Damage dealt | Critical attack damage taken | Backstab damage taken | Backstab share of HP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lv 1 | 50 | 30 | ×1 | 0 | 0 | — |
| Lv 2 | 70 | 75 | ×1.25 | 0 | 0 | — |
| Lv 3 | 90 | 110 | ×1.5 | 0 | 0 | — |
| Lv 4 | 120 | 140 | ×1.75 | 0 | 0 | — |
| Lv 5 | 160 | 160 | ×2 | 0 | 0 | — |
| Lv 6 | 200 | 180 | ×2.25 | 0 | 0 | — |
Damage dealt multiplies every attack's base damage. Critical attacks (after a posture break) and backstabs deal the fixed amounts shown, whatever your weapon; the share column is our arithmetic.
Spewer resistances and weak points
Game dataIt has no special resistances or weaknesses: every damage type works the same.
Red = takes extra damage of that type; filled to the right = resists it (100% = immune).
Weak points
| Body part | Damage taken | Posture damage taken |
|---|---|---|
| Head | ×1 | ×1 |
| Chest | ×1 | ×1 |
Variants with different resistances
| Variant | Melee | Firearms | Explosives | Fire damage | Stasis (Crystallization) | Infection | Head |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small* · main | — | — | — | — | — | — | ×1 |
| Fire Small* | — | — | — | −90% | +50% | — | ×1 |
| Fire Big* | — | — | — | −90% | +50% | — | ×1 |
| Infected Small* | — | — | — | — | — | −95% | ×1 |
| Infected Big* | — | — | — | — | — | −95% | ×1 |
Red = takes extra damage of that type; negative = resists it. Head = damage multiplier on head hits.
Spewer drops
Game dataRandom drops on every kill, with the chance the game rolls for each.
| Item | Type | Chance | Amount | On average |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Consumable | 3% | 1 | 1 in 33 kills | |
| Upgrade material | 1% | 1 | 1 in 100 kills |
"On average" is 1 ÷ chance (calculated): the expected number of kills per drop, not a guarantee.

I thought nothing was worse than a living heap of flesh, but a living heap of flesh that can climb walls proved me wrong... These creatures constantly hurl their mucus, making them hard to approach and creating one hell of a challenge during battle. Shooting their mucus while it's forming seems to be doing the trick.
