Kill every kind of creature.

The Hunter is a Combat achievement, and the game checks 106 separate things before it unlocks — 103 of them have a page of their own, linked above. The one-line description Valheim shows you does not list any of them, which is why a long achievement can feel like it is not tracking: it is, against the list above.

How to get The Hunter

How do you unlock The Hunter in Valheim?

By satisfying all 106 conditions listed above. 103 of them have their own page, so you can work through them one at a time.

Do you need a fresh world for The Hunter?

Not on its own. Progress is tracked per character rather than per world, so anything you have already done in another world still counts towards it.

Does world difficulty matter for The Hunter?

No. The Hunter is set to accept any difficulty, like almost every achievement in the game — only three carry a world-difficulty requirement. Whatever settings your world was created with, this one can still be earned.

How is progress towards The Hunter tracked?

Against your player profile rather than the world, through the conditions listed above, 106 of them. The game keeps running counters — things killed, items crafted, food eaten, pieces placed — and checks them whenever one changes, so progress carries between worlds and characters rather than resetting with a save.

What do you get for The Hunter?

Nothing, mechanically. There is no reward field on an achievement anywhere in the game: it holds an icon, its conditions, a difficulty requirement and a flag saying whether it has fired. No item, no power, no recipe. They are a record of what you have done, not a progression system.
