Boss 4 of 8, fought in the Mountain. 7,500 health across the whole fight.
How to summon
Place Dragon Egg on the altar in the Mountain. The altar is marked on the map once you find it, and the offering is consumed, so bring a spare set if you plan to fight more than once.
Know what actually hurts Moder
The Matchup Lab in MetaBot Desktop picks a target and ranks your weapons by the damage they really deal after resistances and weaknesses, so you prep the right gear before the fight.
- Weapons ranked against any target
- Resistances and weaknesses applied
- Boss prep before you summon

Best weapons
Damage per hit at max quality, after Moder's own resistances are applied. One entry per weapon skill, so this is a choice of weapon TYPE rather than eight variations on the same mace.
| Item | Effective | Breakdown |
|---|---|---|
Lightning Strike | 360 | Lightning 360 |
Thunderblood Crossbow | 358 | Pierce 298, Lightning 60 |
Thunderblood Sledge | 325 | Blunt 265, Lightning 60 |
Thunderblood Greatsword | 310 | Slash 250, Lightning 60 |
Thunderblood Greataxe | 288 | Slash 228, Lightning 60 |
Thunderblood Atgeir | 282 | Pierce 222, Lightning 60 |
Thunderblood Spear | 270 | Pierce 210, Lightning 60 |
Thunderblood Dagger | 250 | Slash 95, Pierce 95, Lightning 60 |
Figures are per hit at maximum quality, before skill level, backstab and the boss's armour. They rank weapons against each other rather than predicting a time to kill.

What the game says about Moder
At the altar
Black wings across the moon and sun Down from the mountain our mother comes Her weeping tears will fall like rain Her voice will call us home again
The dream before
You dream that you are flying over mountaintops, all of Valheim spread out below you.
As you wheel and dive in the cold air, a great shape soars up past you to block the sun. In the darkness, it speaks. "Seek me."
Its last words
Sheathe your pride, creature of Oden! My long reign is at an end but those who come after me are greater still...
Moder is boss 4 of 8, fought in the Mountain with 7,500 health. It takes extra damage from Fire, which is what decides the weapon rather than raw damage numbers — the best option against its resistances is Lightning Strike at 360 per hit at max quality. Summon it with Dragon Egg, and expect the world to change afterwards: start appearing once the kill registers.

How to beat Moder
What is Moder weak to in Valheim?
Fire. It ignores Chop, Frost, Spirit, Pickaxe entirely, so a weapon that looks strong on paper can do nothing here. The weapon table above applies those resistances rather than listing raw damage.
How do you summon Moder?
Place Dragon Egg on its altar in the Mountain. The offering is consumed on use.
How much health does Moder have?
7,500 across the whole fight. There is no damage cap or enrage timer, so the practical limit is how long you can keep landing hits — which is why the weapon that beats its resistances matters more than the one with the biggest number.
What does the Moder power do?
Moder is what Moder grants at a sacrificial stone once you carry its trophy. It runs for 300 seconds and then needs 20 minutes before it can be used again, and only one Forsaken power can be active at a time — so it is chosen for the fight ahead rather than kept on permanently.
Where does Moder come in the boss order?
Number 4 of 8. The order is not enforced by the game — nothing stops you sailing past — but each boss gates the materials the next tier is made of, so fighting them out of sequence means fighting them in worse gear rather than skipping anything.
