Carapace Breastplate is crafted at Black Forge from Carapace x20, Scale Hide x3, Iron x5, Refined Eitr x4, Black Marble x1.

Carapace Breastplate changes your movement speed by -5%. Valheim adds that figure up across everything equipped — both hands, all four armour slots, the utility slot and the trinket — so a heavy set with a shield reaches a number you can feel, and it applies to the stamina that running and jumping drain as well as to speed.

Carapace Breastplate has 1,200–1,800 durability, and can be repaired for free at a crafting station that covers it — repairing costs nothing but the trip, so there is never a reason to carry a worn one home.
